Our restored and updated historic 1850s/early 1900s farmhouse has four (4) guest room suites each with their own private bath. Each room is designed to encompass the history of the property and to offer the quintessential New England ambiance. Our goal is not to be fancy but to be “country” cozy and comfortable, i.e. "COMFORT IN THE COUNTRY." We strive to compliment the other New England Guest Houses and B&B's in the area while offering a unique experience and setting to our guests. For those looking to getaway to an authentic country experience, then this is your place.
At Gowen's Guest House, the "wow factor" begins upon entering the Great Hall, that was once a former kitchen and historic woodshed. This multi-level room is great for entertaining or for just hanging out. The lower portion is a cozy nook that offers a huge wood burning fireplace constructed out of stones from the family’s quarry high up on the hill behind the farm. The tall, peaked ceiling offers skylights and historic wood beams, and the room is decorated with many antique family heirlooms from either our family’s Tamarack Farm or from this historic property. In addition, on the first floor is the original living room and sitting nook, with great views from the Bay windows to the river and meadow, as well as direct access to the back terraces and gardens. Wendy and Dean also live in their own separate quarters/apartment on the first floor at the end of the house, but consider the entire house their home.
The second floor has two separate guest rooms, the Cold River Room and the Green Meadow Room, each with a queen size bed - one with an inviting large jacuzzi tub surrounded with gorgeous stones, and the other has a private upper deck overlooking the picturesque meadow and hillside across the road.
The third floor has two rooms, the Sugar Maple Room and the White Birch Room, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds. These rooms can be rented separately or combined into a two-bedroom suite, called the Hillside Suite, with a cozy sitting room (with Futon Bed) in between.
All guest rooms are uniquely decorated and have modern amenities. There is free WIFI and internet TV in all rooms, complimentary coffee, tea, soft drinks and bottled water. We also offer a complimentary breakfast in our dining room each morning with fresh coffee, juice, cereal, fruit, yogurt, baked goods and pancakes upon request served with maple syrup from Tamarack Farm!

Romantic weekend or family gathering? We have rooms for everyone. The guest rooms start at $125.00/night depending on the time of year, with a two-night minimum over certain weekends and holidays.
